Investigators searching for suspect in Cumberland Co.

The home invasion happened Tuesday. On Wednesday, a Cumberland County deputy found a truck parked in the woods in the Sandy Creek area near the Overton County line.

The deputy got out and heard shots being fired, although it's unclear if the suspect fired at the deputy. Deputies searched the area and found stolen items and vehicles.

Authorities put Pleasant Hill Elementary School on partial lockdown as a precaution during the search.

Investigators have not made any arrests and say it's possible more than one suspect may be involved.

Cumberland Co. may face property tax increase for SROs

Cumberland County currently has four SROs who patrol the county's eight schools. Leaders want to have an SRO dedicated to each school, but will have to come up with a way to pay for it.

One option could include a slight property tax increase. Commissioners won't consider that until they know the full cost of the program.

The next commission meeting is scheduled for January 21st.
