Fentress Co. officers involved in 2 car chases

A suspect is still at large after officers in Fentress County were involved in two separate car chases Tuesday night.

Both chases happened near Jamestown, the first around 8:40 p.m.

A sheriff's deputy says the office had arrest warrants out for a suspect. When the suspect saw the deputies, he fled. According to the department, the suspect crashed into at least one deputy's car and officers arrested him.

Couple charged in quadruple murder to be tried separately

A man and woman will be tried separately for their alleged roles in the murder of four people in Cumberland County.

Jacob Bennett of Crab Orchard and his girlfriend, Brittany Lina Yvonne Moser, of Dayton, were charged with four counts of felony murder and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.

Remains of missing Cumberland Co. woman found

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a local woman whose remains were found more than a month after she went missing.

According to a release from Sheriff Casey Cox, Nina Karen Owens, 47, was reported missing from her home on H&B Farms Drive on August 22. When investigators begun looking into her disappearance, they learned she actually went missing on August 10.

THP Trooper arrests man wanted in NC on rape charges

(WBIR) A Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper arrested a man in East Tennessee Friday wanted in North Carolina on rape charges.

Authorities took Shaun Michael Wiegand, 26, into custody at a commercial vehicle checkpoint in Cumberland County. The trooper was checking his driver's license and noticed four felony warrants.

Wiegand faces charges for statutory rape, solicitaiton by computer, and indecent liberties with a child.

Hwy 127 yard sale, start of school bring traffic headaches

(WBIR - Crossville) For the first time in more than 20 years, the world's longest yard sale will operate at the same time school students head back to the classroom.

The Highway 127 Yard Sale, which runs from Michigan to Alabama along the multi-state roadway, will start on August 7 and run through Sunday the 10. Schools in Cumberland County will have their first full day on August 8. Four of the county's schools are on Highway 127.

East TN officer sued again after 2nd fatal shooting

Dustin Hensley has had a busy law enforcement career in Tennessee.

He's worked at three departments in six years, shot two people dead and been subject to two federal lawsuits alleging wrongful deaths in those shootings.

The first case, a 2009 fatal shooting when he was a Roane County deputy, was dismissed when the family of a man shot dead decided not to continue an appeal after a federal judge ruled that the shooting was justified.
